Unidentified choreographic object? Cinematographic performance? Multimedia theatrical experience? Cold Blood, created by choreographer Michèle-Anne De Mey and filmmaker Jaco Van Dormael, is a bit of all of these at once. Agile hands dance in a miniature landscape and take the spectator to the borders of life and death. Filmed and projected live on a large screen, they animate a “micro-world”, a theatre of illusions and games of scale designed to awaken sensibilities. The technical virtuosity of these “nano-dances” is put at the service of a great emotional subtlety and carried by an exceptional soundtrack: Schubert, Lou Reed, Nina Simone, Richard Wagner, David Bowie… But it is beyond the installation that Cold Blood touches the spectator in the heart: by exposing life in what it has as more fragile and more essential.
